The Crimson Tide Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2010 by Pottsville Area High School alumni, its mission is to enrich the educational experience of current and future students in the Pottsville Area School District by funding projects that go beyond the district’s normal resources
Venture Grants ($250–1,000) for teacher-led creative classroom initiatives like field trips or special materials.
General Grants for larger investments in equipment or learning services, coordinated with school administrators.
EITC Grants, leveraging Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program to support approved projects.
Scholarship Grants, dedicated funds for student scholarships
Since its first grant in 2011—a $1,000 donation for library materials—the Foundation has awarded over $228,000 to the school district (as of August 2022). Funded projects include STEM scholarships, astronomy equipment for the Motivational Science Center, coding supplies, 3D printers, art and math software, and support for digital media and therapy programs
The Crimson Tide Foundation is entirely volunteer-run. Its Board of Directors includes alumni, teachers, administrators, and local business professionals. It was designated in 2018 as an Educational Improvement Organization—eligible to receive business donations with tax credits under Pennsylvania law. Financials, bylaws, strategic plans, and IRS Form 990‑EZ filings for 2022 and 2023 are all publicly available under its “For the Record” section
